About me

Hello!

My name is Catherin Gunkel, and I'm a dedicated equine bodyworker with a passion for holistic horse care. Born and raised in Germany, I began my career as a physical therapist for humans, specializing in neurological clients. After immigrating to Canada in 2007, I explored various roles before discovering my true calling in equine bodywork in 2020.

I'm certified in the Masterson Method and have pursued additional training in:

  • Myofascial dysfunction release (MFR) and Biotensegrity with Dr. Veronika von Rohrscheidt (Germany)

  • CranialSacral therapy (Level 1), EQ Therapeutics (Langley, BC)

  • Equine Tensegrity Balancing Therapy (Level 1 Student), Tami Elkayam (USA)

My goal is to find the unique "entry door" for each horse, allowing me to work with their nervous system, neuroplasticity, and fascial remodeling to promote lasting changes in posture and movement.

Most of my sessions incorporate movement to integrate tissue changes and encourage horses to explore new movement patterns.

I believe that empowering horse owners with knowledge, tools and specific homework exercises are essential for lasting changes - since the body needs lots of repetitions to change movement patterns.

Empowered horse owners empower their horse to have a healthy, happy and long life.

My mission is to provide personalized, holistic equine bodywork sessions that cater to the unique needs of your horse. Whether your horse is experiencing compensation patterns, tissue restrictions, pain, proprioception issues, behavioural challenge or simply needs a wellness boost, I am committed to delivering compassionate, professional, and caring sessions that prioritize your horse's overall well-being.
